As a Worker

My day job is in management of a retail store. In that position I have noticed an amazing difference in the outlook of employees.  Most employees punch the clock, wait for breaks, and then are anxious to leave work. Clock watching has become the regular pass time of most American workers.

These workers many times just think about themselves and how the company can meet their needs, rather than making the company better.

Furthermore, the use of available resources are sometimes abused. Using more disposable product than necessary has become the way of the worker’s life.

As a Business Owner

Being in management, I hold a totally different view of work. Rather than watching the clock, I attempt to accomplish as much as I can in the limited time I am there. I know that what I don’t get done today will be waiting for me tomorrow.

I have to set goals and push to accomplish them within the time frame provided by my employer.  Sometimes this forces me to work extra hours, but it is necessary to meet the needs. Also, crises occur and require quick and immediate response.

As a manager, I realize that the payroll and the sales go hand in hand. Overtime and just having warm bodies in place if the sales is not sufficient is a drain on any profits the business may have.

Furthermore, I have to watch the amount of supply used to function each day. Watching expenses of supplies and payroll are crucial to a business’s success.

You, the Business Owner

How does this apply to you? If you choose affiliate marketing, you will be a business owner. Therefore,

  • You need to set goals and work hard to achieve them . This may mean a long night and working through crisis that arise.
  • You need to focus on making your time count. You are not just putting in 4 hours for a pay check. You are putting in 4 hours to make money in YOUR business. That 4 hours is money in your pocket. You can give yourself a raise by putting in more time.
  • You need to watch your investment. Be sure that your outflow is a portion of your income. Give yourself a budget of how much you can spend on PPC promotions, websites, hosting, and software products that will aid you in your business.
  • You need to persevere. At times it will be discouraging that the results are not showing financially. However, if you hang in there, work hard, and strive to be effective you will succeed.
